New program improves patient access at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital
Hudson, FL — This week, HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital announced the launch of its new Meds to Beds program, a patient-centered initiative to help eligible patients receive prescribed medications before leaving the hospital.
Through a partnership with Drug Store Health Mart, located next to the hospital’s Wound Care Clinic, the program will initially serve uninsured patients by delivering discharge medications directly to the patients’ bedside prior to discharge. The goal is to help remove barriers to medication access, improve treatment adherence and support better health outcomes after hospitalization.
“Our team is excited to launch this new program for our patients,” said Tim Rangel, Case Management Director at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. “Through our partnership with Drug Store Health Mart, uninsured patients can receive their prescribed medications before they leave the hospital, helping ensure they have what they need to continue their recovery at home.”
The Meds to Beds program is coordinated through the hospital’s Case Management team. Medication requests received by 4:00 pm Monday through Friday will be processed for bedside delivery prior to discharge. Deliveries are not available on weekends.
Obtaining medications after leaving the hospital can be challenging for some patients due to transportation, financial concerns or other barriers. By placing medications directly in patients’ hands before discharge, the program helps support a safer transition home and may reduce delays in beginning prescribed treatment.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to patient-centered care,” said Sally Seymour, CEO at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. “When patients leave the hospital with the medications they need and a clear understanding of their treatment plan, they are better prepared to continue healing and remain on the path to recovery.”
Hospital leaders anticipate expanding the program in the future. Plans include offering medication delivery services to cardiac patients, regardless of insurance status, to further support continuity of care and improve the discharge experience.
“We are very excited to grow this program,” Rangel added. “As we serve our uninsured patients, we look forward to expanding this service to additional patient populations, providing even more patients with the convenience and peace of mind of receiving medications before they leave the hospital.”
