We Show Up®: Colleagues volunteer to support The Volunteer Way
Hudson, FL — Demonstrating their shared commitment to improving community health beyond hospital walls, dozens of colleagues from HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital and HCA Florida Trinity Hospital volunteered today at The Volunteer Way, a Pasco County nonprofit dedicated to addressing food insecurity and essential needs.
As part of HCA Florida Healthcare’s “We Show Up®” campaign, colleagues spent part of their day supporting The Volunteer Way’s food pantry, warehouse operations and community garden, helping ensure local families have access to nutritious food and vital resources.
“HCA Healthcare improves community health both inside and outside hospital walls,” said Sally Seymour, CEO of HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. “Access to food, stability and mental wellness are just as critical to healing as the care patients receive in our facilities. Showing up for our community is part of who we are.”
Mike Irvin, CEO of HCA Florida Trinity Hospital added, “Our colleagues understand that health doesn’t start when someone enters the hospital. By volunteering our time and talents, we help address the everyday factors that shape health and give our neighbors a better opportunity to thrive.”
HCA Florida Healthcare colleagues are united in a single purpose: to create healthier tomorrows for every patient we serve. Each year, colleagues across the organization volunteer more than 29,000 hours and commit more than $1.6 million to strengthen the communities where they work and live.
The Volunteer Way plays a critical role in addressing social determinants of health, including food access and economic stability — factors that research shows significantly impact long-term health outcomes. With the support of community volunteers, The Volunteer Way serves thousands of Pasco County residents each year.
