New HCA Florida Merrill Road ER opens

Jacksonville, FL — HCA Florida Memorial Hospital will open its newest freestanding emergency room, HCA Florida Merrill Road Emergency (ER) at 8100 Merrill Road, Jacksonville, FL 32277 on Wednesday, January 7, at 7:00am, welcoming patients in the Arlington area. To officially celebrate the opening, a ceremonial ribbon cutting will be held at HCA Florida Merrill Road ER at 8:00am on Friday, January 23, 2026. Tours will be offered of the new 10, 860 square foot ER conveniently located in Arlington. The ER is west of Interstate 295, next to a RaceTrac gas station across from Merrill Station Shopping Center, anchored by a Walmart neighborhood.

“The goal of our new freestanding emergency room is to provide better access for patients needing emergency care right where they need in it in the Arlington area,” said Reed Hammond, chief executive officer of HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. “As a part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in Florida, we are meeting our patients in their community providing the closest ER access for them.” 

The new HCA Florida Merrill Road ER will provide:

• 11 private rooms
• One Trauma Bay
• Minimally invasive diagnostics
  • CT scan
  • Ultrasound
  • X-ray
• Board-certified emergency physicians
• Emergency room nurses
• Easy access to parking
• 24-7 availability 

“By providing an Emergency Room in the Merrill Road area, we will be connecting with our Arlington community and meeting their emergency needs,” said Shilpa Amin, MD, medical director of emergency services for HCA Florida Memorial Hospital. “We are thrilled to bring our high level of healthcare expertise and compassionate care to the Merrill  area.”

Construction, combined with purchasing new equipment, cost approximately $8.3 million. The land was acquired in September 2019 for $1.1 million. The project was developed in partnership with Brentwood, Tennessee-based architects TMPartners and Nashville-based Catalyst Design Group, with Hoar Construction of Orlando as the contractor.
