Women’s health diagnostics
We offer a wide range of diagnostic imaging services that allow us to assess your health, diagnose any conditions and develop a personalized plan of care. Some of our diagnostic tools include:
- 3D mammography — Digital 3D mammography, also called breast tomosynthesis, delivers superior diagnostic accuracy at the same dose of radiation as 2D digital mammography.
- Breast MRI — During this imaging scan, a magnetic field is used instead of X-rays to produce 2D and 3D images of breast tissue in multiple planes.
- Stereotactic breast biopsy — This minimally invasive breast biopsy often replaces a traditional biopsy, meaning shorter recover times for you.
- Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) — This X-ray scan uses a small amount of radiation to measure the density of bones for women who are at risk of developing osteoporosis.
- Ultrasound — This noninvasive imaging technique uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of soft-tissue areas of the bodies.
Our mammography center
Our mammography suite is located at 1926 Highway 441 North within our outpatient rehabilitation department, in the blue-roofed building just north of our hospital. To make an appointment, call our Central Scheduling department at (877) 331-7027.
Women's health treatments
Some of the treatments we commonly perform include:
- Ablation — This treatment uses heat or cold to destroy tissue. It is often performed to ablate the uterine lining to reduce menstrual flow.
- Hysterectomy — This surgical procedure involves removing the uterus and, sometimes, it can involve removing other reproductive organs, such as the ovaries.
- Lumpectomy — This procedure involves the surgical removal of cancer or other abnormal tissue from the breast.
- Mastectomy — In this surgical procedure, the breast tissue is completely removed to treat or prevent breast cancer
- Tubal ligation — This surgical procedure is performed to prevent future pregnancies.
- Ultrasound-guided cyst aspiration — During this procedure, we use ultrasound imaging guidance to drain fluid from a cyst.
- Salpingo-oophorectomy — This procedure involves the surgical removal of one or both fallopian tubes and ovaries.
Types of hysterectomies we perform
Uterine fibroids, endometriosis, cancer and other conditions sometimes require a hysterectomy for treatment. Our gynecologic staff has the experience and expertise to perform hysterectomies with the compassionate care you deserve. In many cases, we are able to offer minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery, for hysterectomies. With minimally invasive approaches, our surgeons use tiny incisions, which decrease your recovery time.
Our surgeons perform all types of hysterectomies, including:
- Supracervical hysterectomy — This involves removing only the uterus.
- Total hysterectomy — This involves removing the uterus and cervix (the opening of the uterus leading to the vagina).
- Radical hysterectomy — This involves removing the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, upper part of the vagina and pelvic lymph nodes.
