HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital is one of several HCA Healthcare sites participating in the organization’s We Show Up for Our Communities days of service. Healthcare professionals will donate time and expertise to help improve the health and well-being of residents in the Sarasota, Manatee and Venice areas. This reinforces our commitment to caring for the communities where patients live during National Volunteer Month. The hospital hosted a special flag raising ceremony for National Donate Life Month. Several colleagues who have received organs or donated organs shared their inspiring stories and a special flag was raised in front of the hospital to pay tribute to donors and their families and signal hope for those still waiting for an organ donation. Colleagues were able to sign up to be organ donors and learn more about organ donation.

Hospital colleagues also joined members of the community for a blood drive. As the area enters the busy spring and summer season the need for blood donation increases. Last year during a similar blood drive, hospital colleagues donated enough to save 78 lives.

In 2024, HCA Healthcare colleagues across the country volunteered 240,000 hours. We Show Up for Our Communities is part of HCA Healthcare’s enterprise-wide focus to address needs in our community through charitable contributions and community service.
