St. Petersburg, FL — Colleagues from HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital and HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital came together this week to volunteer at the Friends of Strays Animal Shelter’s Cat Box, strengthening the hospitals’ commitment to community service and animal welfare.

Volunteers spent the morning supporting shelter operations by packaging donated dog food and helping ensure resources are ready for pets and foster families throughout Pinellas County. In addition to assisting with essential supply preparation, team members also had the opportunity to socialize with the adoptable cats, giving them the enrichment, affection and human interaction that play an important role in the animals’ well‑being.

“Our teams had an incredible time lending a hand to an organization that does so much for vulnerable animals in our community,” said Alyssa Clementi, director of communications and community engagement, HCA Florida St. Petersburg and Pasadena Hospitals. “We’re proud to partner with Friends of Strays and look forward to supporting future volunteer opportunities.”

Friends of Strays, St. Petersburg’s oldest no-kill animal shelter, relies heavily on community partnerships to support its mission of assisting homeless and abandoned animals. By volunteering at the Cat Box, HCA Florida Healthcare employees helped streamline daily operations that allow the shelter to focus on providing compassionate care and increasing adoption opportunities.

The event is part of HCA Florida Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, volunteerism and supporting local organizations that improve lives across the region.
