Outstanding first responders recognized by HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital for exceptional patient care

St. Petersburg, FL — HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital proudly recognizes Fire Medic Joseph Calderaro and EMT Daniel Torres for their exemplary service and compassionate care during an emergency response on March 3 at John’s Pass.

Calderaro and Torres responded to a call involving a critically ill diabetic patient requiring urgent medical attention. From the moment they arrived on scene, both first responders demonstrated clinical excellence, professionalism and empathy. They provided prompt, skilled care while also offering reassurance and support to the patient and her family during a highly stressful situation.

Their attention to detail and clear communication ensured a seamless transition of care upon arrival at the hospital. The patient’s family specifically expressed their gratitude, noting how comforted and confident they felt in the care provided by the EMS team.
