Orthopedic care
Orthopedists are doctors who take care of the entire musculoskeletal system. They diagnose and treat conditions such sprains, strains, broken bones, arthritis and osteoporosis. Some of the treatments they offer include recommending lifestyle changes, applying casts and performing surgeries, such as ligament repairs or total joint replacements.

Advanced joint replacement surgery
We are proud to offer advanced techniques for joint replacement surgeries. In fact, we have earned the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for our hip replacement and knee replacement programs. Additionally, we earned the Joint Replacement Excellence Award from Healthgrades.
We are proud to offer minimally invasive robot-assisted surgery for advanced partial knee replacements and total hip replacements. The robotic surgical system enhances the surgeon's precision in aligning and positioning the artificial implant.
Our robotic technology also allows the surgeon to create a customized 3D model of the patient's joint before the surgery takes place. With this 3D model, the surgeon can personalize and preplan the procedure to the patient's exact anatomy, increasing precision and accuracy.
Anterior approach to total hip replacement
Our orthopedic surgeons perform the anterior approach to total hip replacement, which is a minimally invasive approach. Using the anterior approach allows the orthopedic surgeon to perform the surgery through a smaller incision. The cut is in the front of the hip rather than in the side or back, like in traditional (posterior) hip replacement surgeries.
Benefits of the anterior approach hip replacement include:
- Less major muscle damage: Because the anterior approach avoids cutting through muscle, surgeons don’t have to make repairs to these muscles once the operation is complete.
- Less pain: With less surgical cuts and no cuts at all through the muscle, patients experience less pain.
- Quicker recovery: After the surgery is complete, patients are encouraged to move and bear weight as soon as it’s comfortable. This is often not possible with posterior hip replacements.
- Decreased risk of hip dislocation: The muscles and soft tissue around the hip naturally prevent it from dislocating. When these are cut, as with the posterior method, there is a greater risk of hip dislocation. The anterior technique avoids this by not cutting into the muscle.
Robotic total hip replacement
During a robotic hip replacement surgery, the surgeon guides the robotic arm to make very precise movements. The surgeon prepares the hip socket and positions the implant according to the predetermined surgical plan.
Robotic partial knee replacement
A partial knee replacement can relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis that has not yet progressed to all three compartments of the knee. By targeting the part of the knee damaged by osteoarthritis, surgeons can resurface only the diseased portion of the knee. This method spares the healthy bone and ligaments surrounding the knee joint.
Following the personalized preoperative plan, the surgeon guides the robotic arm to execute the positioning of the implant.
Preoperative joint replacement education
We offer a Joint Replacement Class for anyone having joint replacement surgery. The class is designed to help patients get familiar with our hospital and prepare for joint replacement surgery.
We also offer a downloadable joint replacement guide to educate patients on the joint replacement process.
Orthopedic rehabilitation
Our comprehensive orthopedic care doesn't end once your procedure is complete. Physical therapy plays a primary role in the recovery process.
We offer inpatient and outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation. Our inpatient rehabilitation center, Rehabilitation Institute of Northwest Florida, is the only acute care rehabilitation facility in the region.
