'Thank a Teacher' recipient recognized by HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital
HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, with the Public Education Foundation of Marion County (PEFMC), are excited to announce Matthew Andres of Emerald Shores Elementary School in Ocala as the latest recipient of the “Thank a Teacher” award.
HCA Florida West Marion Hospital Chief Executive Officer Isaiah Zirkle presented Andres the award during an event at the school on Jan. 27. Also in attendance were Marion County School Board Chairwoman Sarah James, Ed.D., Vice Chairwoman Lori Conrad and other foundation members and school faculty.
“Our community prospers when our students succeed, and our teachers play such a critical role in helping them achieve at every level,” said Zirkle. “That’s why our hospitals are proud to join the Public Education Foundation of Marion County in recognizing educators like Matthew who are strong catalysts for the positive development of our children.”
Andres teaches fifth grade at Emerald Shores Elementary School. His “Thank a Teacher” nomination, which was submitted by another teacher at the school, noted, “He is always there for his colleagues when they need it, and he goes above and beyond for his students.” Andres was chosen for the month of November.
“Matthew provides a great example of the educators that HCA Florida Healthcare and the Public Education Foundation of Marion County seek to spotlight through the ‘Thank a Teacher’ program,” Magamoll said. “He leads his classroom with passion and purpose, while placing the best interests of his students at the forefront of what happens in the classroom every day.”
HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, HCA Florida West Marion Hospital and the PEFMC present the “Thank a Teacher” award for each month of the 2025-26 school year. Winning educators are nominated by students, families, or staff members of Marion County Public Schools who call attention to the teachers’ devotion to education and the overall positive impact they have on their students and school communities.
