Patients can receive two primary types of cancer treatment at our hospital: surgery, including minimally invasive approaches, and chemotherapy. Surgical oncology procedures differ according to the cancer type but focus on surgically removing cancerous tumors and cells. Intravenous chemotherapy is also performed as a medical treatment to kill cancer cells. All of our infusion nurses are certified in oncology nursing.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more men and women in the U.S. die from lung cancer than any other type. At our hospital, we work to improve the survival rates for patients with lung cancer through early detection, quick diagnoses and detailed cancer staging.

Our oncologists and pulmonologists work together to select the best treatment for you based on your individual needs.

We are a regional leader in using minimally invasive technologies and procedures when diagnosing and treating lung cancer. Our surgeons use minimally invasive robot-assisted technologies for a number of thoracic procedures.

Patients undergoing lung cancer treatment also have access to our lung cancer care coordinator — an advanced registered nurse practitioner. The coordinator is available to answer your questions, schedule appointments and coordinate your care.

Our commitment to early detection

Many people with lung cancer will not experience any signs or symptoms until the later stages when cancer has had more time to spread. To increase early detection rates, we perform lung cancer screenings to identify the disease in its earliest stages — when it is most treatable.

Computerized tomography (CT) scans are available to people at high risk for developing lung cancer. This risk may be due to age, exposure to certain toxins and/or smoking history.

If lung cancer is detected, we perform a variety of pulmonary imaging services to accurately stage and locate suspicious areas on the lungs.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women. In addition to our breast screening services, we provide additional resources for women with a breast cancer diagnosis, including access to cancer support groups and lymphedema treatment.

Cancer support groups bring together women with breast cancer in a shared space to offer feelings and receive support. Whether you are recently diagnosed or are acting as a support person to a loved one going through cancer treatment, we invite you to join us.

Lymphedema management

Lymphedema (swelling of the arms and/or legs) is a common side effect for breast cancer patients. Our rehabilitation services include lymphedema therapy to help manage symptoms during treatment.
