Since 15 years old, Cara Hayes was twice told by her physicians she would never get pregnant. However, time would later reveal that miracles do happen and would happen to her! Lucy Amira, short for “A Miracle”, was born on April 9th, showing up in ample time to give her mom Cara the best Mother’s Day! Eager to meet her parents, Lucy was delivered early at a gestational age of 28 weeks. Lucy continues to get stronger and is cared by an outstanding team at our hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Level 3, the highest level of neonatal care in Osceola County. The NICU is also staffed by onsite neonatologists from Nemours Children’s Hospital.
Lucy Amira continues to get stronger every day at our NICU and loves mom's visit. Lucy loves her mom’s warmth and mom Cara is in love with her little miracle. For Mother’s Day, Lucy got her tiny feet wet in special pink watercolors to stamp her footprints on her mom’s Mother’s Day card.
