St. Petersburg, FL — HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital proudly recognized local Sunstar Paramedics for their outstanding dedication, professionalism and commitment to patient care. The hospital honored Sunstar Medic Joe Butler along with Joel Oviedo and James Strobel of Sunstar Truck 30 for their exceptional service and selfless actions that made a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

Joe Butler, who serves patients during evening shifts, was recognized for consistently going above and beyond in his role as a Sunstar medic. Known for his calm demeanor and compassionate approach, Butler exemplifies excellence in pre‑hospital care by ensuring patients are properly assessed, medicated and stabilized prior to transfer.

Joel Oviedo and James Strobel of Sunstar Truck 30 were also recognized for their critical role in transporting a patient who required urgent surgery. Without hesitation, the two paramedics gave up their scheduled break to ensure the patient was safely and promptly transferred to HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital.
