Imaging may be used to diagnose or to track the progress of certain treatments for conditions and diseases. Your doctor may also request screening exams using imaging technology to ensure your health status prior to surgery or treatment.

Our diagnostic radiology procedures

Our imaging services include:

3D mammography — This screening and diagnostic tool takes multiple images, or X-rays, of breast tissue to recreate a 3D picture of the breast. These multiple images of breast tissue give doctors a clearer image of breast masses, making it easier to detect breast cancer.
Computerized tomography (CT) — This imaging procedure takes multiple X-rays from different angles and combines them into a cross-sectional image. CT scanning allows radiologists to see inside a structure without needing to make an incision.
Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans — These scans are used to measure bone density in order to diagnose and treat osteopenia or osteoporosis.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) — This imaging technology uses high-energy magnetic fields instead of radiation. It produce highly detailed images of structures in the body, such as bones, tissues and organs.
Needle localizations
Ultrasound — This type of imaging uses the reflections of high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal structures. Ultrasound is commonly used in prenatal care to evaluate a child's development but can also be used in other areas of medicine, such as heart imaging.
X-ray — This traditional form of imaging uses small doses of radiation to create images of internal structures in the body. The image displays different shades of black and white. This differentiates structures, such as tissue and bone.

Interventional radiology (IR)

In IR, doctors use medical imaging to guide minimally invasive surgical procedures that diagnose, treat and cure many kinds of conditions. Imaging modalities used in IR include fluoroscopy, MRI, CT and ultrasound. Interventional radiologists make small incisions, usually in your abdomen, and use catheters (thin, flexible tubes) to treat conditions inside your body. Medical images are used to guide their catheters through your blood vessels, arteries and organs.

Nuclear medicine

This imaging subspecialty uses small, safe amounts of radioactive material, called radiotracers, to diagnose disease. The radiotracer is absorbed by the area of interest in the body, which allows radiologists to examine internal structures and how they function.
