Minimally invasive surgery

We are proud to offer access to minimally invasive surgery for a variety of health conditions.

The difference between traditional and minimally invasive surgery

Traditional surgery requires large incisions so the surgeon can visualize and operate on the surgical site. However, minimally invasive techniques, such as robotic or laparoscopic surgery, allow the surgeon to use special surgical instruments, including a high-definition camera, to operate through only a few small incisions.

Benefits of minimally invasive surgery

When the patient and physician agree that minimally invasive surgery is the best option, it offers many benefits to patients, including:

  • Faster recovery times
  • Less postoperative pain
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Smaller incisions

Laparoscopic surgery

Laparoscopic surgery involves the use of specialized instruments and a camera, called a laparoscope. The surgeon makes very small incisions and when the instruments are inserted, a magnified view of the surgical site is displayed on a monitor near the surgeon. This high-definition view allows the surgeon to operate with great accuracy.

Robot-assisted surgery

Robotic technology allows surgeons extreme precision during surgery. Each robotic system is different, but most offer enhanced views of the surgical site, better control of surgical instruments and a greater range of motion. These benefits, combined with the tiny incisions, create an optimal surgical experience for patients and surgeons.

Our surgeons often use robotic surgery for gynecologic, orthopedic, spine and urologic procedures.
