A Message from Board of Trustee President Erin Halstead.

As we reach forty years of caring for our community, I am proud of the extraordinary impact HCA Florida Englewood Hospital has made since opening in 1985. This year has been a remarkable chapter in that story.

In 2025, we cared for 38,500 patients, performed 4,200 surgeries, and marked our 2,000th robotic-assisted surgery. Our emergency department treated 23,000 patients and our dedicated volunteers contributed 16,000 hours in service to our patients and colleagues.

We expanded access to care with the opening of HCA Florida Wellen Park Emergency, serving 3,200 patients since March. Our commitment to clinical excellence earned our 22nd Leapfrog “A” for patient safety, recognition from the American Heart Association for stroke and diabetes care, and Healthgrades’ Patient Safety Excellence Award. We also earned five-star ratings in cardiology, critical care, gastrointestinal, and orthopedic care, along with a 4.5-star Google star rating that places us among the nation’s top hospitals for reputation.

Our community partnerships remain strong. We provided $45,000 in support to local organizations including the YMCA of Southwest Florida, Boys & Girls Club of Charlotte County, Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County, and United Way of South Sarasota County. We trained more than 100 residents in life-saving CPR and volunteered 800 hours to support nonprofits. We strengthened emergency preparedness through simulation drills with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and Englewood Area Fire District.

Looking ahead, we have secured $5.2 million for renovations to patient rooms and nursing stations. Our colleagues achieved the highest engagement score in the HCA Florida Healthcare West Florida Division.

For 40 years, our strength has been the people, our colleagues, physicians, volunteers, and neighbors, who make this hospital more than a place of care. Every achievement reflects our shared commitment to each other and the community we proudly serve.

Thank you for trusting us for four decades. We look forward to serving Charlotte and Sarasota counties for many years to come.
