We are pleased to announce that Nicole Carr, DNP, RN, CNOR, has been named chief nursing officer (CNO) for HCA Florida Englewood Hospital. She will serve as interim CNO while continuing in her current role until her official start date on Nov. 17. A transition period will follow to ensure a smooth handoff of her responsibilities at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital.

Nicole has more than a decade of progressive nursing leadership experience, most recently serving as interim chief nursing officer and assistant chief nursing officer at Fawcett Hospital. Her tenure was marked by significant achievements in patient care, operational efficiency and team development.

At Fawcett Hospital, Nicole advanced clinical quality and throughput, reducing Geometric Mean Length of Stay (GMLOS) and driving a 70% drop in hospital-acquired infections. She improved colleague engagement by 10% and strengthened shared governance through revitalized nursing councils and leadership development. Her retention strategies led to top division rankings in nurse extern conversions and Patient Care Technician hires.

During Hurricane Milton, Nicole led the safe evacuation of 142 patients within 36 hours and coordinated the emergency reception of 88 patients from Largo in just 14 hours. Her decisive leadership and operational agility during this crisis exemplify her commitment to patient safety and excellence.

Previously, Nicole served as division vice president of nursing operations for HCA Midwest Health, supporting nursing strategy across seven hospitals and leading initiatives that improved emergency department performance, strengthened workforce development and enhanced patient outcomes.

Nicole holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Missouri. She is a graduate of the HCA Advanced Leadership Program and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders Director Fellowship.

Outside of work, Nicole finds fulfillment in spending time with her husband, Chris, and their three children, Nora, Aubrey, and Mac. Whether attending their sporting events or enjoying shared hobbies like cooking, running, music, and games, family moments are her most cherished.

Please join us in welcoming Nicole to Englewood Hospital. Her collaborative leadership and passion for nursing excellence will be instrumental in advancing our mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
