Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) treatment

Our Acid Reflux Center is one of the best equipped centers between Pensacola and Tallahassee. We have a special emphasis on diagnosing and treating GERD.

GERD is a very common, long-term condition where stomach acid frequently flows into the esophagus. Our GI doctors can help manage GERD with medication or surgery to remedy the symptoms.

Common GERD symptoms include:

  • Coughing
  • Heartburn
  • Nausea
  • Trouble breathing
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Vomiting

Barrett's esophagus treatment

Barrett's esophagus is a precancerous condition where the lining of the esophagus becomes damaged over time. This is typically a result of repeated acid reflux instances.

It is important to have regular checkups for precancerous cells, so your physician can diagnose and treat Barrett's esophagus. It is commonly diagnosed in patients with GERD.

We are the only hospital in the region providing radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of Barrett’s esophagus. During radiofrequency ablation, our surgeons use a flexible tube to view the inside of your esophagus on a monitor. Then, they use radiofrequency energy (heat) to kill the precancerous cells.
