Visitor information

This information is designed to answer some of the most frequently asked questions of our visitors.

Visitor information

We ask that you follow the appropriate visiting guidelines. This includes:

  • Non-COVID-19 admitted patients are allowed two visitors at one time. Those under the age of five are not permitted to visit, and minor children must be accompanied by an adult that is 18 years or older. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Department Director or House Supervisor.
  • COVID-19 patients are allowed one adult visitor who is 18 years old or older. Visitation appointments should be arranged ahead of time with the nursing team.
  • Patients in intensive care units (ICUs) may have two adults that are 18 years old or older at one time.
  • Emergency room (ER) and surgery patients are allowed one adult visitor that is 18 years old or older.
  • Minor patients in the ER may be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Visiting hours

Our normal visiting hours are:

Monday through Friday
8:00 am to 8:00 pm

Saturday and Sunday
12:00 pm to 6:00 pm

You may designate a family member, friend, guardian, or other individual as an essential caregiver. This essential caregiver may be allowed two hours daily visitation, in addition to normal visitation hours. Based on your condition, visiting hours may be adjusted at the discretion of the department director or house supervisor.

Patient information

The bedside nurse is your best source for pertinent information, and family members are asked to designate a spokesperson that will communicate with the nurse for all updates. The spokesperson will inform other family members of the patient’s condition. Your family spokesperson can also call the unit desk to receive information on your loved one's condition. In order to protect the privacy of our patients, no information will be given out over the phone to anyone but immediate family members.

Special considerations

Unless there are any patient objections, we will allow in-person visitation, including overnight stays. Special considerations may be granted for:

  • End-of-life situations
  • Patients having to make one or more major medical decisions
  • Patients needing special encouragement eating or drinking, where assistance was previously provided by a family member of caregiver
  • Patients struggling with the transition from living with family to being admitted to the hospital
  • Patients who are no longer speaking and interacting with others like they previously had been
