Newborn care in Gainesville

We provide advanced monitoring and care for newborns who need extra attention during their stay in the hospital.

At HCA Florida North Florida, we offer a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which is the second-highest level of care that a hospital can offer a newborn. This designation means we have advanced services and equipment to care for babies with many different needs and conditions. It also means there's no need to move your baby to another hospital to get that special treatment the deserve.

HCA North Florida Hospital Breast Milk Donation Program

As every mother who has breastfed knows, every drop of breastmilk is precious and takes a lot of time, patience, and care to collect. HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is partnering with the Milk Bank of Florida to provide a breastmilk donation program for mothers in our area who have an abundance of breastmilk and would like to donate it to babies in need! Eligible breast milk donors are healthy women who produce more milk than needed to feed their own infants. Instead of discarding this milk, eligible donors will be able to freeze and voluntarily donate their milk to our program and we will ensure it is properly frozen and stored until collection from the Milk Bank of Florida. The Milk Bank of Florida is a non-profit organization that collects, processes, pasteurizes, and dispenses donor breast milk to NICU babies and other medically needy infants in our state.

If you are interested in becoming a donor, please follow these easy steps!

  • Call 407-248-5050 for a short telephone interview
  • Complete a secure online health questionnaire.
  • Permission to contact health care providers.
  • Complete a free blood screening
  • Drop off your frozen breast milk to the HCA Florida North Florida Hospital Breastmilk Donation Program.

Our breastmilk donation program is located in the Medical Arts Building: 6400 W Newberry Rd. Suite 107 Gainesville, FL 32605 and is open for breastmilk donation drop offs on: Wednesdays 2pm-5pm, Thursdays 9am-12pm, and Fridays 9am-12pm. Please call 352-333-5314 or 352-333-5327 with any further questions.
