What is cardiac rehabilitation?

Cardiac rehabilitation improves your heart health, especially after a heart attack, heart failure or other debilitating heart condition. It usually involves exercise and education to rebuild and maintain your heart strength.

Our cardiac rehabilitation services

Cardiac rehabilitation is part of our complete continuum of heart care.

Before you begin your cardiac rehabilitation program, you will undergo an initial, thorough evaluation by our experienced cardiac rehab and exercise physiology staff. The team will create a structured exercise plan customized for your personal needs and goals. This plan will include close heart monitoring and education on heart health topics.

We design our educational sessions to equip you with the information you need to make heart healthy lifestyle choices, which reduce your risks for heart and vascular disease.

Inpatient cardiac rehab program

We offer inpatient cardiac rehab programs at our hospital as well as at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, a part of HCA Florida Ocala Hospital. You may participate in this type of rehab if you are in our hospital for heart surgery or a condition requiring hospitalization.

Our dedicated team of cardiac nurses and exercise physiologists helps you recover and resume your daily activities in an environment that is both safe and encouraging.

Outpatient cardiac rehab program

We offer an outpatient cardiac rehab maintenance program, called "Take Charge." This maintenance program is designed for people who would like to reduce their heart disease risk factors, improve their fitness and maintain their overall health.

We offer this medically supervised, structured education and exercise regimen in our newly expanded and renovated rehab and exercise center at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital. You can participate in the program and use our facilities for a nominal monthly fee.

The program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), a national organization that recognizes excellence in standards of medical care.
