Heart screenings and procedures

We provide an array of diagnostic heart screening tests and procedures, including:

  • Echocardiogram (ECHO) — a specialized, noninvasive ultrasound creates a “motion picture” of your heart, allowing for assessment of your heart's pumping capacity and function
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) — a test measuring the electrical activity of your heart
  • Electrophysiology (EP) study — a procedure performed to measure the electrical activity of the heart, often used to diagnose the cause of abnormal heart rhythms
  • Holter monitoring — a method often used when symptoms of fainting and palpitations are present to monitor the heart's electrical activity for a 24- or 48-hour period
  • Stress test (nuclear and treadmill) — tests monitoring your heart's response to exercise and, when a nuclear stress test is performed, the adequacy of blood flow to your heart muscle
  • Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) — an assessment tool used during a coronary interventional procedure to determine whether or not to perform angioplasty or stenting on intermediate blockages

Cardiac catheterization

Cardiac catheterization is used to identify any blockages in the arteries supplying blood to the heart. During this procedure, a small, flexible tube (a catheter) is guided through a blood vessel and into your heart.

Cardiac catheterization is also used to:

  • Assess the functioning of the heart valves and chambers
  • Check for heart defects
  • Detect blockages of blood flow to and from the heart
  • Develop a personalized treatment plan
  • Diagnose heart conditions or diseases
  • Evaluate an enlarged heart
  • Measure pressures within the heart
