Cardiopulmonary services we offer

We know that your heart health is an important part of your overall well-being. To better understand how your heart and lungs are working, our cardiologists use a variety of tests, including:

  • Bronchoscopy — Allows doctors to view the inside of the lungs using a thin tube attached to a small camera
  • Diffusion study — Helps evaluate lung function by measuring how well the air sacs in the lungs are delivering oxygen to the blood
  • Echocardiogram — Uses sound to produce images of the heart
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) — Measures electrical activity in the heart
  • Lung volume measurement — Measures the maximum amount of gas exhaled during breathing
  • Spirometry — Measures how quickly, and in what amounts, you inhale and exhale air
  • Stress testing — Measures heart performance during increased physical activity, such as being on a treadmill

Our cardiopulmonary services

You have access to a full range of both inpatient and outpatient cardiopulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic treatments, such as:

  • Bronchodilator therapy
  • Chest physiotherapy
  • Mechanical ventilation

Cardiac catheterization lab

A cardiac catheterization lab (cath lab) is an area where skilled specialists use advanced, minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat a wide range of heart conditions with precision and care. As part of Florida’s largest cardiovascular network, we are dedicated to helping you understand your heart health and receive the right care at the right time.

The cath lab is a specialized environment where cardiologists use a thin flexible tube, called a catheter, to access the heart and surrounding blood vessels through a small incision. This approach allows us to:

  • Evaluate the structure and function of the heart’s chambers and valves
  • Visualize blood flow through coronary arteries
  • Detect blockages or narrowing that may lead to heart attack or other serious conditions
  • During the procedure, a safe contrast dye is injected through the catheter and X-ray imaging captures detailed views that help guide diagnosis and treatment decisions.
