HCA Florida Healthcare celebrates construction milestone for HCA Florida Downtown Emergency
HCA Florida Healthcare recently celebrated a major milestone in the construction of its new HCA Florida Downtown Emergency facility with a topping out ceremony, marking the completion of the structure’s highest point. HCA Florida Osceola Hospital leaders joined the construction team to commemorate this significant step forward in expanding access to emergency care in downtown Orlando.
“We are honored to recognize our partners and colleagues who have had a role in bringing HCA Florida Downtown Emergency to this point,” said David Shimp, chief executive officer of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital. “Providing an opportunity to sign a beam that will be a permanent part of the structure is a tradition in the construction industry that acknowledges and thanks all who have contributed to this project.”
The 11,260 square-foot, $21 million ER will provide full-service emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week in downtown Orlando, including the College Park community.
“Each year, 175,000 patients living within a five-minute drive of this location visit local emergency rooms,” Shimp noted. “HCA Florida Downtown Emergency will offer people who live, work and visit this area a choice that provides easier access to faster, more convenient, high-quality emergency care delivered by board-certified physicians.”
In addition to emergency medicine doctors, the freestanding emergency department will be staffed with nurses and healthcare professionals providing specialized emergency care for patients of all ages, including children. The facility will include 11 private patient care rooms, a trauma/cardiopulmonary resuscitation room, CT scan, digital X-ray and ultrasound services and on-site laboratory services.
Once operational, the ER is expected to employ approximately 35 full-time healthcare professionals, enhancing local job growth and reinforcing HCA Florida Healthcare’s commitment to serving the healthcare needs of Greater Orlando.
HCA Florida Downtown Emergency, located at 719 Peachtree Road in Orlando, facing Colonial Drive, is slated to open in Spring 2026.
