An outpatient rehabilitation program allows patients to stay at home during their recovery and receive therapy on their schedule. It is usually less intensive than inpatient rehabilitation.

Outpatient rehabilitation
Outpatient rehabilitation at our hospitals is offered as a standalone service or as a transition between inpatient rehabilitation and a return to your home. Some of the types of therapy we offer on an outpatient basis include:
- Aquatic therapy to stimulate blood flow and help you grow stronger and more agile in a safe, supportive water-based environment
- Cardiac therapy and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation to help strengthen your heart, cardiovascular system and lungs, especially after cardiac events, procedures or diagnoses, such as heart disease
- Lymphedema therapy to assist with compression bandages, develop an adaptive lifestyle and monitor your condition
- Mist therapy to treat and heal chronic wounds
- Neurological and stroke therapy specifically designed to treat conditions of the brain, spine and nervous system, including complications that can arise after a stroke
- Occupational therapy to enable you to relearn how to perform the activities of daily living
- Pelvic floor and urodynamic therapies to restore pelvic floor and bladder function and control
- Physical therapy to help you recover physical strength and range of mobility
- Pulmonary rehabilitation to improve endurance and strength in your lungs and during exercise and physical activity

How to participate in outpatient rehabilitation
Our hospitals offer many different clinics and rehabilitation centers throughout Florida. Typically, your doctor can refer you to a program at any of these facilities. You may also be referred to us from a specialist or following your completion of an inpatient rehabilitation program.
As part of your outpatient therapy program, you will have a medical evaluation and then the rehabilitation team will work with you to personalize a treatment plan of physical activity, education and support.
