You may think you have to live with chronic sinus infections or ringing in your ears (otherwise know as tinnitus), but our ENT specialists across HCA Florida Healthcare are available to offer relief and specialized treatment options. As part of this, we will listen to your needs and take the time to understand what you're worried about. We will also collaborate with your primary care team and other providers to be sure we can give you complete, expert care.

ENT conditions we treat

Our ENT doctors treat a variety of conditions affecting the structures of the head and neck. Some things we commonly treat include:

  • Allergies
  • Deviated septum and other nasal obstructions
  • Diseases of the throat and larynx
  • Dizziness
  • Ear infections
  • Hearing loss
  • Infections, including sinusitis
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Sinus infections
  • Smell disorders
  • Swallowing disorders

ENT treatment options we offer

Our ENT specialists are equipped with advanced tools and surgical technology. This allows them to provide a wide range of treatment options, including: medications, noninvasive techniques and nasal surgery.

Medical therapy

HCA Florida treats most sinus infections with medication and can often prescribe the following medical therapies to treat initial sinusitis symptoms:

  • Antibiotics
  • Topical nasal steroid sprays
  • Steam inhalation
  • Nasal saline sprays or drops

If medication alone doesn't resolve the infection or you have chronic sinusitis, we may recommend functional endoscopic sinus surgery or balloon sinuplasty.

Balloon sinuplasty

Balloon sinuplasty is an alternative to functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) that uses minimally invasive sinus balloon catheters to position a balloon into the blocked sinus passageway. Our ENT doctors will then inflate the balloon to gently restructure and open the sinus passageway, restoring normal sinus drainage and function. This can be done without tissue or bone removal.

Conventional sinus surgery

Conventional sinus surgery is typically known as functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). FESS can usually provide relief for sinusitis.

Our otolaryngologists and ENT surgeons perform FESS using specialized instruments placed into the nose along with a small endoscope. This helps us see inside the nose and nasal cavities and easily remove bone and tissue, as needed.

Other sinus surgery options we offer include:

  • Endoscopic sinus surgery uses a thin fiber optic tube to remove abnormal and obstructive tissues.
  • Image-guided surgery combines the use of a computerized tomography (CT) scan with endoscopic surgery for greater visual precision. It is beneficial in surgeries involving severe infection, previous sinus surgery or when a patient has a rare sinus anatomy.

Our ENT teams

Across the state of Florida, our ENT doctors provide excellent care for not only serious conditions of your head, neck and ears but also for an array of other problems, like allergies, sinusitis and sore throats. They are also experienced and capable of treating even more severe conditions, like hearing loss and certain types of cancers.

Additionally, they are able to easily connect with and draw on the expertise of many other medical specialists. If you need care for related conditions, they will work closely with these other team members to diagnose and treat you as quickly and effectively as possible.

Throughout it all, our ENT teams are proud to offer you the care and devotion to your health that you deserve.
