Imaging services

Imaging exams allow radiologists (imaging specialists) and physicians to view structures and activity within the body. This is vital for diagnosis but also for treatment, to ensure your care plan is working as it should.

Medical imaging centers in Florida

When your healthcare provider orders diagnostic imaging, we believe you should have convenient imaging services close to home.

HCA Florida Healthcare is proud to offer just that at our medical imaging centers throughout the state. These medical diagnostic facilities are equipped with advanced imaging technologies. They provide our radiologists with clear views of structures and activities within your body. This type of visualization allows for an accurate diagnosis, which is essential in helping us develop your personalized treatment plan.

Diagnostic imaging services we offer

Through advances in modern technology, today's imaging services allow physicians to view inside the human body more clearly than ever before.

At HCA Florida, we pride ourselves on our sophisticated imaging equipment that enables our doctors to diagnose and treat diseases faster and with superior precision.

Our medical imaging centers offer a wide variety of advanced imaging tools, as we are dedicated to investing in the future of imaging for the benefit of our community.

Some of the imaging services we offer include:

Bone density screening

A bone density screening determines the approximate strength of a patient's bones. Using small amounts of radiation, the technologist evaluates the bone density and the amount of calcium in a specific region of the bone. This type of screening is most often used to diagnose osteoporosis and determine a patient's risk for bone fractures.

Breast imaging

This X-ray test is used to screen for and diagnose breast cancer.

Mammograms use low-dose X-ray imaging to examine breasts to diagnose and treat breast tissue anomalies, such as tumors and other breast diseases. Mammograms can detect early symptoms of breast cancer and ensure optimal breast health.

HCA Florida is proud to be the home of American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited hospitals for their excellence in breast imaging.

Computerized tomography (CT)

CT scanning is one of the most commonly used tools to examine the brain, chest, abdomen and pelvis. CT scans help diagnose a range of conditions like gastrointestinal problems by taking images, or "slices," of internal organs and other structures inside the body. These advanced CT scanners are used to identify blood clots, broken bones, cancer, signs of heart disease and internal bleeding.

Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA)

During a CCTA, a contrast dye is used with the CT scanner to measure when the dye reaches the heart's blood vessels. Then, the scanner takes hundreds of images of the heart and merges them to form a highly detailed picture of the heart. This allows diseases to be detected very early, even before you show symptoms of a heart condition.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

MRI is a minimally invasive imaging technique, which uses a high-powered magnet and radiowaves to create accurate and detailed images of the body. MRI does not use radiation.

MRI scan times are typically faster than other forms of imaging. They can also be used to provide high-definition images in situations where abnormalities were previously undetectable.

Nuclear medicine

Nuclear medicine is an imaging technology, which uses a special radioactive material to pinpoint activity within the body on a molecular level. Nuclear medicine can be used to detect diseases affecting the gallbladder, heart and thyroid to provide the best neurological care.

Ultrasound

Ultrasounds produce images of the soft tissue areas within your body and internal organs using high-frequency sound waves. This noninvasive imaging technique helps physicians diagnose and treat many medical conditions. It is commonly used to diagnose abdominal disorders, blood clots, blood vessel disorders, cancers and pelvic disorders.
