St. Petersburg, FL — HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital and HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital proudly recognize two exceptional public safety professionals for their unwavering commitment to service, compassion and patient care.

Andrew Pawlowski, a paramedic with Sunstar Paramedics, was commended for stepping up in two critical moments: assisting with security in ER registration without hesitation and volunteering to help move a stuck ICU bed from an elevator — each instance showing initiative, selflessness and teamwork.

“He is always very friendly and easy to work with,” shared Ashley, ER Nurse at HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital.

Andrew’s actions underscore the power of empathy and readiness in fast-paced healthcare settings.

Equally celebrated is Kevin Massey, a firefighter and paramedic with South Pasadena Fire Department Station #20. Known for his consistent compassion and attentiveness, Kevin has become a familiar and respected presence among ER staff and patients alike.

Recently, Kevin transported a young female patient experiencing an altered mental state. His concern and kindness stood out immediately. Ashley noted, “There is not just one story to describe Kevin and how good he is — there are many.”

As a first responder and firefighter, Kevin embodies the heart of public service: courage, empathy, and a relentless drive to help others, often under the most challenging circumstances.

HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital and HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital deeply value their partnership with local EMS teams. Their dedication, professionalism and humanity play a critical role in the seamless delivery of care.
