HCA Florida Largo Hospital has become the first hospital in Florida to successfully complete a FRACTURE IDE clinical trial procedure for the treatment of coronary artery disease. The procedure was performed by Dr. Merrill Krolick, as part of the Bolt Medical FRACTURE trial under the HCA Healthcare Research Institute.

“This trial brings groundbreaking technology to the Greater Tampa Bay Area, allowing us to safely treat heavily calcified lesions and improve outcomes for complex cases,” said Dr. Krolick.

The FRACTURE pivotal trial is a prospective, single-arm study evaluating the safety and efficacy of the Bolt IVL™ Coronary CAD360™ system in patients with moderate to severe coronary calcification. The study aims to enroll up to 392 patients across 50 sites in the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe.

Magen Davis, West Florida Division Director of Research for the HCA Healthcare Research Institute, stated, “We’re proud to lead in innovative care and research that advances cardiovascular treatment and community health.”

This milestone underscores HCA Florida Largo Hospital’s commitment to advancing medical research and delivering cutting-edge care to patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.
