HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is proud to offer the most advanced lung imaging technology in Marion County. This technology helps find answers faster with the most effective diagnostic tools possible, right here in North Central Florida.

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital is the only hospital in Marion County offering 3D cone beam computed tomography technology, providing fluoroscopy and 3D imaging during bronchoscopy procedures. These minimally invasive procedures allow doctors to isolate nodules in the lungs and airways for tissue sampling using a thin tube with a camera.

This technology uses 3D "GPS-style" imaging, along with software that features tool-in-lesion placement confirmation, allowing doctors to see lungs and nodules in real-time 3D. The software confirms that the doctor has pinpointed the lung nodule to take a sample and provides much higher confidence in a clear diagnosis.

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital’s robotic bronchoscopy system is also the only local system that allows pulmonologists to perform cryo-biopsy, which uses extreme cold to take a tissue sample, providing a larger, better-preserved, and deeper tissue sample, often resulting in a significantly higher diagnostic yield. Preservation of tissue of any type of cancer is essential for subsequent testing such as molecular markers that aid medical oncologists to prescribe targeted therapy treatment for each patient.

The HCA Healthcare Sarah Cannon Cancer Network has recognized HCA Florida Ocala Hospital’s thoracic oncology program as a top-tier Signature Program, evidenced by the hospital’s commitment to providing exceptional lung cancer care in our local community in the form of advanced technology, highly specialized physicians, and care coordination and resources that support patients throughout their cancer journey.

By fostering close collaboration between pulmonology and cardiothoracic surgeons, including Dr. Bryan Bush and Dr. Oktavijan Minanov, HCA Florida Ocala Hospital ensures surgical treatment options are evaluated thoughtfully and decisively with each patient.
