Cheryl Beardsley, a 38-year-old HCA Florida Ocala Hospital ER Nurse, was going for a run when she suddenly collapsed. Cheryl was brought to the hospital and it was determined that she had suffered a heart attack. Cheryl was treated and discharged for the heart attack. Cheryl was going to pick up medication that was prescribed in her treatment plan when she noticed her speech was beginning to slur and she could not feel her left side. 911 was called and Cheryl was brought to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, the region’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center. “Everybody there moved so quickly and they got me right to the CT. Even though I am part of the HCA Florida Ocala Hospital family, I know that they do this for everybody.” The CT scan showed that Cheryl had a bleed in her brain, which would need to be treated with a Craniotomy, which was performed by Dr. Reddy. “Dr. Reddy took great care to make sure they did not shave more of my hair than was needed. He brushed my hair and put my hair in little rubber bands. He took his time and treated me as if I was a family member.” Cheryl said that the care she received after the procedure was wonderful. “Everyone had patience with me and they know what they are doing. I would recommend HCA Florida Ocala Hospital to anyone needing medical attention.” Cheryl was discharged after five days and says she “is extremely appreciative of the team at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital that really does care like family.”
