When Jessica and Eric arrived at the hospital to welcome their baby into the world, they were met not just with medical expertise, but with a level of compassion and attentiveness that left a lasting impression.

Originally from Miami, Jessica shared, “I asked around and a lot of people recommended HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. It was also close and convenient for where we live now.”

From the moment they arrived, Jessica felt the care team was deeply attuned to her needs. “I had a birth plan, but my pregnancy changed quickly. I had to put my trust in every member of this team to take care of me to the best of their capability,” she said. “They anticipated my needs without me even having to think about it.”

Jessica’s labor was long and intense, but the staff’s responsiveness made all the difference. “I was in a lot of pain, and they didn’t really make me wait long. They did their best to accommodate me in any possible way as soon as they could.”

Eric, too, felt supported throughout the process. “They were patient teachers. You think you understand, but as first-time parents, you don’t really know until you get here. Some things were surprising, and they helped us feel informed and in control the whole way.”

Jessica recalled specific staff members who made a profound impact. “Felicia had a very calm demeanor. She looked at me and made me feel like I could do this.” She also praised Shannon’s energy: “She makes you feel like you’ve been friends for a long time… always happy and accommodating.” Diana stood out for her motherly kindness: “She went above and beyond to help me in ways I wasn’t even expecting.”

One moment that stood out was when Diana advocated for Jessica’s choice for medication during delivery. “I wasn’t expecting someone to have my back like that… her looking out for me made me feel extremely safe.”

When it came time to push, it was a team effort. “All of a sudden there were like 3 or 4 other people, including a nurse just focused on cheering me through it. They made every step of the way very easy, safe and comforting.”

Postpartum care was equally impressive. “The lactation consultant came three times. Pat was very patient and comforting. She said, ‘There’s no wrong way. Just keep trying.’” Jessica added, “Our entire time here, everyone was always asking me if I need something or getting me stuff without me even having to ask, it was special. I felt like I was their only patient.”

Eric also praised the team, “It didn’t feel like they were just doing their job. They love this, you can tell it’s their calling.”
