For first-time parents Quelisha and Juan, the journey to welcoming their baby girl was filled with anticipation — and a few unexpected challenges. When they learned that they were expecting, choosing the right hospital became a top priority. After visiting several facilities, they were impressed by HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. “Right away when we first entered, it was the customer service and the cleanliness and the setup of the building,” Juan said. “The Labor and Delivery area, it was impressive.”

Their decision was confirmed during an emergency visit during Quelisha’s pregnancy. She developed a fever that wouldn’t break, so they came into the Emergency Department. “Everybody was amazing. They made me feel safe with everything,” she said. Juan was reassured seeing the level of expertise and attentiveness: “The entire team was focused on one thing: caring for her and the baby.”

That sense of security carried through to delivery day. Even during a challenging 26-hour labor, nurses anticipated Quelisha’s needs and kept her calm. “They made me feel loved,” she said. From thoughtful touches like aromatherapy to constant reassurance, the couple said the nursing team went above and beyond. “That really helped her to stay calm,” Juan said. “Their knowledge and support and teaching us what was about to happen, they were great.”
