Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide direct patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS) and pursue advanced education and training opportunities, including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
About HCA Florida Largo Hospital
The story began in the early 1970’s with a belief that local residents deserved access to advanced medical procedures. This idea ultimately led to the opening of a state-of-the-art, 246-bed facility with a focus on cardiac care in 1978.
As of today, HCA Florida Largo Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited, 455-bed statutory teaching hospital located in mid-Pinellas county in the Tampa Bay area on the west coast of Florida which serves the community via three campuses, each with 24-hour emergency room access.
HCA Florida Largo Hospital serves 3 principal roles:
- First, we are a community hospital providing comprehensive care to residents of Pinellas County.
- Second, we are a statutory teaching hospital contributing to the training of the next generation of healthcare providers.
- And third, we are a regional referral center for certain high-complexity clinical programs that serve patients from a broader geography that extends well beyond Pinellas County.
These regional programs include:
- Solid organ transplantation (heart, liver, and kidney)
