HCA Florida Englewood Hospital’s Wound Care Center has been honored with the 2024 Center of Distinction Award by Healogics in recognition of the center’s commitment to exceptional patient outcomes and compassionate care.

This prestigious honor is awarded to centers that demonstrate outstanding performance in key clinical and operational metrics, including:

  • Patient satisfaction of 92% or higher
  • Wound adjusted comprehensive healing rate of 77% or higher
  • Outlier rate of 16% or lower

These results exceed national benchmarks and reflect the center’s dedication to healing complex wounds — from diabetic foot ulcers to arterial and pressure ulcers — using advanced, evidence — based treatments.

“This award is a testament to the skill and dedication of our entire wound care team,” said Dr. Patrick McFadden, medical director of wound care. “As chronic wounds become more prevalent due to aging and chronic diseases, our mission is to restore health and quality of life for every patient we serve.”

According to the American Diabetes Association, chronic wounds affect more than 8 million Americans and are often linked to conditions such as diabetes, peripheral artery disease, cardiovascular disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Without proper treatment, these wounds can lead to serious complications, including limb amputation.

The Wound Care Center at Englewood Hospital offers a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together specialists in plastic surgery, podiatry, infectious disease and vascular surgery. Treatments include:

  • Negative pressure wound therapy
  • Debridement
  • Total contact casting
  • Bioengineered skin substitutes
  • Biosynthetic dressings
  • Growth factor therapies

“We’re proud to offer some of the most advanced wound care therapies available,” McFadden said. “Our goal is to help patients heal faster and return to their lives without the burden of chronic wounds.”
