HCA Florida Lake City Hospital donates $50,000 to Florida Gateway College
Funds will help recruit and train vitally needed nurses and other healthcare professionals.
HCA Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce a gift of $50,000 to Florida Gateway College to support the next generation of healthcare professionals. The announcement was made on Feb. 25 at the groundbreaking ceremony of The Grace & Al Harter Center for Innovation, where representatives from HCA Florida Lake City Hospital presented a ceremonial check.
“HCA Florida Healthcare’s support of Florida Gateway College enables students to access the resources, training, and hands-on experience they need to pursue careers in healthcare,” said Jill Adams, CEO of HCA Florida Lake City Hospital. “These contributions are not just about helping students today; they are about ensuring that tomorrow’s healthcare professionals are equipped with the skills necessary to provide exceptional care to our community. By investing in education, we’re investing in healthier tomorrows.”
In recognition of this transformative gift, The Grace & Al Harter Center for Innovation will provide a dedicated wing named the HCA Florida Healthcare Simulation Wing. This state-of-the-art nursing wing provides resources and educational tools to train students in healthcare professions, providing hands-on, real-world experiences that prepare them for the demands of their future careers.
The funding from HCA Healthcare Foundation leverages Linking Industry to Nursing Education (LINE) funding, awarded by the Florida Legislature to expand nursing education capacity across the state. This collaborative effort between public colleges, private industry, and state funding enables FGC to meet the increased demand for healthcare professionals in Florida.
The Grace & Al Harter Center for Innovation provides resources to the Nursing and Health Sciences Programs at FGC including three new classrooms, a cadaver lab, an Anatomage table, six hospital-style simulation rooms, and six debriefing rooms in addition to an office for the simulation, anatomy and physiology faculty and support staff.
The HCA Florida Healthcare Simulation Wing is designed to revolutionize nursing students' learning by offering an immersive and dynamic training environment. Nursing students will experience hands-on learning with access to realistic patient scenarios, high-fidelity simulators, and advanced technology. They will hone their skills in a safe and controlled setting while gaining confidence and competence in critical areas such as patient assessment, decision-making, medication administration, and teamwork.
The unveiling event for the HCA Florida Healthcare Simulation Wing will be held at a later date, celebrating this milestone in healthcare education and workforce development.
