Dr. Talluri and his team celebrate with the new minimally invasive surgery equipment.

Sarasota, FL — HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital is one of the first hospitals in the area to have new technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help guide surgeons during total hip replacement surgery in the operating room.

Orthopedic surgeon, Nicholas Talluri MD used the technology for the first time at the hospital during two scheduled procedures. Both patients did well during the procedure and are now recovering.

The system uses AI and real time, live x-ray images, during the surgery to help surgeons make precise adjustments and ensure hip implants are positioned accurately. This helps surgeons place hip implants precisely and based on a patient’s unique anatomy. It is non-invasive and does not require additional incisions or hardware to be placed into a patient.

Surgeons say this is the future of total hip replacement surgery and will become more common in the orthopedic surgery field.
