HCA Florida Osceola Hospital is proud to announce that Dr. Amber Teague recently received the UCF-HCA Teacher of Excellence Award from resident physicians in the family medicine residency program at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital. Dr. Teague is an emergency room physician at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, and residents in the program take part in a pediatric emergency medicine rotation under her supervision.

“Dr. Teague joins a small group of very select faculty, and if one knew the caliber of the recipients from prior years, one would quickly understand just how elite this award is,” said Dr. Jason Konopack, academic assistant dean, UCF College of Medicine, and program director, UCF-HCA Family Medicine Residency in Gainesville. “The residents appreciate her teaching style and how she models outstanding emergency care, as well as how much they progress as resident physicians in just a short time working with her.”

Dr. Teague was unanimously selected for the award by the residents, who are among more than 720 physicians being trained across the state in needed specialties like primary care, surgery, emergency medicine and cardiology through the University of Central Florida — HCA Florida Healthcare Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium.

“I am honored to be recognized by the residents as a Teacher of Excellence,”  Dr. Teague said, “but I feel it is equally important to recognize them for the commitment they have made to a career devoted to the health and wellness of our community. These young doctors have dedicated their lives to caring for others, and I owe it to them to make sure our providers of tomorrow receive the best training possible.”

A graduate of the Medical College of Georgia at August University, Dr. Teague is board certified in pediatrics. She has more than 14 years of experience and has been caring for young patients in the ER and as chief of pediatric emergency medicine at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital since 2019.
