Allen Prince
Allen's is forever thankful for the dedication and care of the medical staff at Fort Walton-Destin Hospital.
"Hi, I'm Allen Prince, I have been working here in the ER, as a registered nurse for over 27 years and I, on 2014, October the eighth, I was at home and my wife found me laying on the floor in the bedroom, and I had a cardiac arrest. I was brought in by ambulance to this ER, and my coworkers took care of me that day. It was a Wednesday and I came in intubated, had to be re-intubated, had a second cardiac arrest here at the ER, and then a third cardiac arrest in the cath lab. My team took very good care of me, and they're the reason I'm still here today. Dr. Sandwith was my surgeon and did an impeccable job. And they took great care of my wife while this was all going on. I have always had a lot of confidence in the people that I work with here in the ER, and I can never thank them enough, for everything that they did, I was back to work here at the ER, almost 12 weeks to the day after my surgery. And I had a really good outcome. I am taken care of by Dr. Zarate right now and Dr. Zarate checks me roughly every six months and I have an echo every year to make sure my valve is still in good shape. I had a bovine valve placed and I've had very good results with that. I have no energy problems, I feel like this never happened. I work three or four, 12 hour shifts a week. And I have been since this happened. And like I said, I can't thank the team here at Fort Walton-Destin Hospital enough for everything they've did — I highly recommend them. And I never will be able to thank them for everything that they've done."
