For Kevin Boyle, VP Branch Manager of the local FAIRWINDS Credit Union in Oviedo, community has always been at the center of his life. A resident of Oviedo for over 27 years, Kevin has watched the city grow — and with it, the emergence of something he considers vital: Oviedo Medical Center.

But Kevin’s connection to the hospital goes far beyond proximity. It’s deeply personal, rooted in a lifetime of medical challenges that began when he was just a child. As a young boy, Kevin suffered a traumatic bike accident, that left him in a coma for five days. The years that followed were marked by persistent nosebleeds and headaches. By the time he was eight years old, Kevin began experiencing grand mal seizures — a condition that would follow him into adulthood.

Despite these challenges, Kevin has always pushed forward with determination, building a successful career and a meaningful life in Oviedo with his devoted wife, Christine. Three years ago, a violent grand mal seizure changed everything. The impact was so severe Kevin’s back was broken in four places. Paramedics rushed Kevin to the Oviedo ER®, and what could have been a terrifying ordeal became something far different.

“Although in pain,” Kevin recalls, “the moment I arrived at Oviedo Medical Center, I felt safe.” From the EMS team to the emergency room staff, Kevin says everyone treated him with “gentleness, expertise, and compassion.” An MRI revealed the severity of his injuries, but he knew he was in the right place. The road to recovery was long. It took months of physical therapy and constant support from Christine to help Kevin relearn to walk. Throughout the journey, the foundation of care he received at Oviedo Medical Center gave them strength and peace of mind.

“I appreciate the value that Oviedo Medical Center provides to the community,” Kevin says. “Suffering from seizures since I was eight, it’s a huge relief for both Christine and me to have a full-service hospital just minutes away. Before, we had to go to Winter Park during emergencies. Now, I know help is right here in my own community.”

As a local leader and long-time resident, Kevin sees Oviedo Medical Center not just as a hospital — but as a vital pillar of the community. “From the ER staff to the surgical team, nurses, and administrators — I’ve always been treated with kindness and care,” he says. “I feel safe knowing my hospital is right down the road.”

Kevin Boyle’s story is one of perseverance, love, and the incredible impact of having world-class care close to home. With Christine by his side and the support of the caring team at Oviedo Medical Center, Kevin continues to live with strength and gratitude — an inspiring reminder of how powerful the right care, in the right place, can truly be.
